Urban Condo
San Francisco, Calif.
private residence
OVERVIEW
While R&R was transforming on one of their vacation residences, the owners of this pied-à-terre in San Francisco’s South-of-Market neighborhood asked them to turn their urban condominium into a comfortable home. Working within the tight confines and regulations inherent with high-rise living, R&R set about using light colors and cohesive materials to maximize the space of the two-bedroom condo. The impressive original works of art amassed during the owners’ world travels became the centerpiece of the design, and R&R added much-needed storage in the form of abundant built-ins, from the living-room entertainment wall to the Murphy bed in the office/guest bedroom.
HIGHLIGHT
The handsome cherrywood wall of built-ins in the living room was crafted to reflect the profiles of the existing kitchen cabinetry and serve as a true entertainment center, housing both media and a full bar.
